Task Document
Robots are very cool. They work non-stop and produce a consistent quality of work. They use special arms which are more accurate than human arms. At the end of an arm is an end effector - like a hand or a tool. Look at the animation below. The end effector is like a hammer. There are other end effectors such as cameras, grippers, drills and spray guns, painters, sanders and polishers. Can you think of a use for each of these? Robots are usally programmed to follow a sequence of events. They are computer-controlled. They may have sensors so that they know when to start a particular sequence. For example, a robot may use a motion sensor to detect that a box has arrived. It will then pick up the box and move it to another place. Of course, robots have limitations. If a sequence changes, the robots will have to be reprogrammed. This can be expensive and time-consuming.
